Product Overview

          HPE 746842-001 (disk body manufactured by SanDisk, now owned by Western Digital) is an enterprise grade NVMe solid-state drive positioned for read intensive workloads. It provides low latency and high IOPS performance brought by NVMe technology for enterprise applications, while becoming a powerful alternative to SATA SSD and SAS HDD with its optimized cost and reliability, suitable for scenarios such as boot drives, general storage, and cache acceleration.

This hard drive is typically used as a hybrid or read intensive solution, integrated into HPE's ProLiant Gen9, Gen10 and other server platforms.

1. Core features and specifications

Capacity: 920 Gigabytes (GB)

This is a typical "enterprise level" capacity point, typically reserving a portion of Over provisioning (OP) space to maintain long-term performance, garbage collection, and durability, resulting in a user available capacity of less than 1TB.

Interface and Protocol: NVMe 1.1 over PCIe 3.0 x4 Lanes

Provide much higher bandwidth and lower latency than SATA/SAS interfaces, significantly improving system response speed.

Form Factor: 2.5 inches U.2 (SFF-8639)
